Debt has been favored in any and all forms in order to entice people to purchase otherwise unsellable merchandise and goods. All of this has induced a cultural and political process of pushing forms of social agency into a condition of dependency (debt is an agent with the unconscious enabling guilt and a consequent drive for atonement), and at the same time has rendered the entire societal system vulnerable and fragile, exposing it to repeated collapse as witnessed in the frequent economic bubble “boom and crash” cycles.
